NEW Feature: Redaction AI

By Jeff Golterman, Senior Director, Product Marketing

You know how important redaction is to deal success.  Compliance with privacy regulations such as GDPR or CCPA is a necessity. Protecting strategic and commercially sensitive data also requires redaction. You can’t really get a deal done today without it.

You also know that redaction takes way too long. Using unintegrated tools adds hours passing files back and forth from your data room. Or – heaven forbid – using a black marker to redact documents then scanning and uploading back into your data room brings your deal to a crawl. And because you care about quality, add hours and sometimes days checking and rechecking.

When project admins share their wish list of redaction improvements, the ability to automate the redaction of data-types often appears.  Looking through documents for personal and company names, physical and email addresses, currencies, and phone numbers to find, redact, check and re-check takes days and weeks.  Admins tell us there’s got to be a better way.

The great news is we’re releasing a solution.  Using pattern recogniztion, Redaction AI from Datasite now lets project admins select the data types that they want to redact, and the tool presents a list of occurrences for confirmation. It’s that simple. No more hunting through every document.  The AI engine also goes to work when you’re loading deal documents. Imagine a tool that marks documents for redaction while you are working on higher value activities.

AI redaction works alongside previously released Datasite redaction innovations. We’ve packaged AI with automated redaction where you name a term and the system goes and finds all occurrences for you. It even finds images like logos too. AI redaction also works hand in hand with redaction reasons where admins tag redactions – in bulk or individually - with a reason-type.  Because you might want to unredact all your commercial or strategic redactions when an exclusive buyer emerges, you can now do so in seconds. Customers share that unredacting happens in 1/10th the time it used to take versus using 3rd party tools.

And redaction overall – when you add up the time savings using AI, Automated Redactions and Redaction Reasons – can be as much as two-thirds the time savings vs other tools.

The time savings are huge. Complexity reduced.  Your sanity saved. Your deal accelerated. Add Redaction AI to your Datasite Diligence or Datasite Prepare project today.
