How is M&A in Spain and Portugal faring so far this year? Total transaction value through April in Spain was €40.7m, up 190% yoy. But in Portugal it was €2.95m, down 53% yoy. Spain also experienced an increase in the number of transactions this year, with 738 at end-April, or a 3.8% rise over the same period last year. Portugal, however, saw a 21% decrease. Which sectors have been driving activity? And where might the opportunities exist going forward?
