The M&A market in Latin America registered a total of 280 M&A transactions in August 2021, for an aggregate value of US$7,511 million.

From January to August 2021, there were 2,084 deals. Brazil was the most active country in the region, with 1,453 transactions. Mexico was second, with 226 transactions - up 196% compared to August 2020.

The deal of the month was Colombian state oil company Ecopetrol’s 51.4% acquisition of Interconexión Eléctrica – ISA,  valued at US$3,686.79 million. The transaction was carried out using Datasite's VDR.
