Deal Drivers: APAC Q1 2022

The beating heart of APAC slowed down as Greater China witnessed a steep slip in dealmaking. As a result, the region saw an overall decline in M&A activity in Q1 2022.

Still, dealmaking in APAC saw a less precipitous decline than M&A activity in the Americas and EMEA. With deal volumes aggregating to US$160bn in the quarter, the trend was much in line with pre-pandemic level of activity.

The positive news came from M&A in Australia and encouraging performance of sectors such as TMT and I&C. What is the road ahead for M&A in APAC?
