What is an Acceleration Request?

Definition:

A form of written request to the SEC filed by a Registrant requesting that its Registration Statement be effective at a particular date and time (at least two days after the date of the request). The aim of the request is to “accelerate” the effective time of the Registration Statement (which is normally at least 20 days after the date of filing in the absence of such acceleration).
