Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs)

Definition:

A type of Asset-Backed Security where an issuer issues bonds that have been broken into Tranches of Senior Debt and Subordinated Debt that are secured by debt obligations (such as bonds, fund interests, loans, or other obligations) purchased by the issuer with the proceeds of the bonds.
