What are Discount Notes?
Definition:
Short-term debt securities (usually maturing in under a year from issuance) issued at a discount to Par. Discount Notes do not pay interest; instead, the investor receives Par value upon Maturity. The difference between the purchase price and expected return on Maturity is the Yield.
