Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF)

Definition:

SEC-registered investment funds trading on a stock market and in which investors can buy shares in order to gain exposure to the underlying assets that the ETF has been set up to track. Common ETFs include those that hold stocks that correspond to certain indices such as the Fortune 500 or the FTSE 100.
