Over-the-Counter (OTC)

Definition:

Securities traded on platforms other than typical formal exchanges such as the NYSE or AMEX; that is, stocks traded via a dealer network. Often securities that trade OTC do so because they do not meet an exchange’s listing requirements. Such stock is referred to as unlisted stock.
