The M&A ship has slowed in the headwinds of 2023, but the Americas market is at last regaining some momentum. See how the first half of the year has unfolded, and the prospects ahead, in Deal Drivers: Americas HY 2023, produced by Datasite in partnership with Mergermarket.
A stabilizing influence
M&A activity is inevitably strongest in the more stable economies of North America, and especially the US, where the US Federal Reserve is striving to ease recent economic shocks. But beyond the US, resource-rich Brazil is showing strong activity in energy, mining & utilities (EMU) – as well as in TMT – while its start-up scene is going from strength to strength. Canada too features on the EMU radar, with a prospective deal that – if it happens – would be the year’s second-largest across all sectors.
Challenges remain in all these regions, but dealmakers seem to be adapting well to the tougher new environment. Follow these trends and more in the full report.
