Buyout firms pick up M&A slack in APAC
Asia Pacific M&A faced a difficult first half of 2026 as energy disruption, weaker deal values, and uneven economic conditions weighed on activity. APAC recorded 5,171 deals worth US$490bn, down by both volume and value year-on-year. However, private equity buyouts strengthened, while investment in technology, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and energy assets continued to generate significant transactions across the region.
